Dear Adoptive Family,

Over 15 years ago West Sands Adoptions (a licensed 501(C)(3) non-profit child placing agency in Utah) was established with the following major core beliefs:  We are all children of a kind and loving Heavenly Father and every orphaned child deserves a loving family through the gift of adoption.  We believe that loving families include a mother and father, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents.  We believe every child needs to be loved, cherished, and well cared for.

We believe that loving families have the right to bless the lives of orphaned children and to increase or complete their families through adoption.  We believe West Sands Adoptions has the responsibility to provide extremely reliable and very high quality adoption services to families at the lowest possible cost.  We believe that adopting a child should be a very positive and happy experience.  One of the Chinese translations of the name West Sands is “A Sacred Mission”.  We believe this best describes our adoption philosophy.

Please let me introduce our staff.  I am Kent C. Parke, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Executive Director of W.S.A., with over 30 years experience in adoption.  It is my responsibility to oversee every aspect of our agency and be sure that every child being placed and every family adopting has a positive and rewarding experience.  My wife Lynn Parke, B.S. (a graduate in Social Work) is our document coordinator.  Keith Parke, B.S., (a graduate student in Social Work at the University of Utah) media and newsletter coordinator.

Our Special Projects Director is Weston Whatcott, Ph. D., L.C.S.W. in social work and founder of W.S.W.  He and his wife Sandy help develop adoption opportunities for W.S.A.  We have an exceptional board of directors which include an attorney, accountant, civil engineer, and professional educator who has adopted three children.  Our secretarial and training staff is excellent and our dedicated and professional international staff in China, Haiti, and Ethiopia are the very finest.

CHINA:
Why adopt from China?  Simply stated China has the largest and most RELIABLE adoption program in the world!  The adoption process is uncomplicated and inexpensive.  West Sands Adoptions has been a direct license holder with the C.C.A.A. (China Committee for Adoption Affairs) for more than 10 years and has participated in hundreds of adoptions.  We have a very friendly and professional staff in China that have been with us for many years.  From the minute your jet arrives at the Beijing International Airport, our staff will pick you up, escort you to the hotel where you will meet other members of your group, and do everything they can to make sure your trip is pleasant, safe, and rewarding.  They will be with you on the tours, at the reception center where you will receive your child, at the U.S. Embassy, and at the airport when you fly home.  They have made all the arrangements and will escort you everywhere.  You are on vacation and they are your tour guides.  We have a very close working relationship with the C.C.A.A. which allow us to quickly resolve any problems that may arise.  You will love the wonderful people of China and their incredible culture and fabulous food.  Working together we will make your adoption and trip to China one of the most memorable experiences of your life!

HAITI:
For over six years West Sands Adoptions has successfully helped arrange many adoptions from this island nation.  We work through a variety of partners and licensed orphanages.  There are a large number of beautiful orphan children of either gender and different ages who are available to adopt.  When we first started working in Haiti, the waiting period from the time we sent the family dossier until the families would return home with their child was about five to six months.  Over the years the waiting time has dramatically increased.  Though we can not promise any great changes in the near future, we are working with our partners in Haiti to try and reduce the waiting time.

ETHIOPIA:
After many months of diligent work and effort on the part of Wes and Sandi Whatcott, we have begun processing and finalizing adoptions in Ethiopia.  We are licensed, have an excellent Ethiopian staff, and are working with two wonderful orphanages.  The cost to adopt is very reasonable.  As of 09-01-07 we have completed six adoptions and are currently processing applications with a number of families.  The waiting time is averaging seven months.  We are excited to help you adopt from Ethiopia.  You will love the beautiful children and wonderful people in this unique country and may even choose to go on Safari!
